The Mexican, Yamba

Love this place, a must to book in every visit to the area. Easy, amazing food with variety but we order the same dish all the time because it is soooo good.

Amazing food at the Mexican! Brilliant service and incredible attention to the kiddos - they loved the ‘worms in dirt’ dessert. Prawn tacos were gold star. Margaritas the best in NSW, so yum. Don’t leave without trying the tres leche cake.

This place is a vibe! We had a phenomenal time. The team is so welcoming and kind. The food was amazing and the chilli coconut margies were the best. We finished our meal off with a dessert and also some shot of honey tequilla. We will be back next time we visit from the Gold Coast.

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here the other night, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We arrived a bit early, but the staff were so accommodating and welcoming from the start. We ordered a few entrées, all of which were delicious, but the highlight was the incredible sizzling share plate—it was a 10 out of 10! It looked so good that multiple people stopped by our table to ask what we were having. The evening was filled with laughter, great cocktails, and an overall amazing experience. A big thank you to the wonderful staff for making our night so special!”

We absolutely love this place! It’s our fourth time dining here and we literally plan our trips to Yamba just so we can come back for dinner. The food is always incredible — truly the best Mexican menu we’ve ever had. We are completely obsessed with the jalapeño poppers… to the point that we’ve even started growing our own jalapeños at home! We’re still trying to persuade Emilia to share the secret recipe with us. The service is always amazing, so friendly and welcoming every single time. And the Piña Colada? Honestly a 10/10 — the best we’ve ever tasted. Thank you for creating such a special place. We can’t wait for our next visit!

We had a fantastic time tonight at The Mexican, the staff was friendly and welcoming, cocktails so delicious.. every meal we got was yum and a very generous serve. After a small mix-up with our booking, the team at The Mexican kindly accommodated my husband, our 3-year-old, and me with a table. They were incredibly warm and friendly, and even went out of their way to help our daughter with colouring pencils and made sure she had a blanket on the windy, cool evening. The food was delicious and brought out quickly. We had the burrito, garlic prawns and guacamole, and our daughter had a chicken quesadilla, which were all generous serving sizes — we’ll definitely be back.
